Advanced Compounding (SSO)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SSO's Advanced Compounding system is very different from KGO, for KGO's Advanced Compounding guide please go here:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

Advanced Compounding, also known as Polishing, is the concept of upgrading an equipment once again using an item called a Polish. Polishing can only be done on Weapons / Armors / Avatar Amulets and is not a 100% success rate with a chance of failure from Polish 3>4 onwards.

Advanced Compounding greatly increases the damage/defence of your equipment, and the damage added increases exponentially the higher the level of the Polish. As the level of Polish increases, the failure rate also greatly increases. Failure may either result in:

1) No changes to the current Polish count
2) Decrease the Polish count by 1
3) Result in the destruction of your weapon, in which case you will never be able to get it back

The maximum advanced composition you can get is +10 Polish for equipment below level 165 and +11 Polish for equipment level 165 and above. (Thanks mokono for the correction! :) )

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Increasing Success Chance of Polish

When a Polish attempt fails, the equipment might get destroyed, in other words it will be gone forever and there is no way to get it back. There are a few items to:

1) Increase the success rate of polish
2) Prevent the Polish count from decreasing
3) Prevent your equipment from getting destroyed

1) Lucky Amulets (LA)

The only way to increase the success chance of Polish in SSO is to use Lucky Amulets 50, 100, 150 etc. LA50 has a +50% success rate of polish, LA100 has a +100% success rate of polish, and so on. You do not have to use LAs from Polish 1 to 5 as the success rate is still quite high, however it is recommended to start using LAs from Polish 6 onwards. Do note that using LAs do NOT guarantee success or prevent your equipment from getting destroyed. There is still a chance of failure when using LAs, especially at higher levels of Polish.

※ As of now, only LA50 is sold in the cash shop. LA100 and above are only obtainable from events or other players.

2) Anti Dropping Scroll
As the name of the item suggests, it prevents your equipment's current polish count from decreasing when you perform advanced compounding. However, do take note that this item does not prevent your item from getting destroyed. Therefore, I personally don't use this item when doing advanced compounding.

3) Anti Destroying & Safety Scrolls

As the polish count increases, the success rate of polish decreases exponentially. This means that at Polish 8-10, the success rate could be negative and your weapon is highly likely to get destroyed if you do not use an Anti Destroying/Safety Scroll. It is recommended to use AntiDes from Polish 3-6, and Safety Scrolls + LA from Polish 7-10 onwards.

※ Anti Destroying Scrolls cannot be used together with LAs. Only Safety Scrolls can be used with LAs.

※ The polish level may still drop on failure with Antides but your weapon will be safe (Thanks Shi for pointing that out).

Safety Scrolls (not the same as Anti Destroying Scrolls) cannot be bought from the cash shop, they can only be obtained from events or the Roulette and are quite expensive on the marketplace. To access the roulette, click on the 'ETC' tab on the bottom right side of your bag and look for the icon with a yellow circle. To spin the roulette once, it will cost 3,000,000 gold or 1,100 Cash/Mileage.

Polishing Equipment

Before polishing, make sure you have prepared more than enough polishes, Anti Destroying Scrolls and LAs, and make sure your internet connection is stable. Do note that Polish success rate is not affected by FW compounding buff.

"Test Compounding" (Not necessary)

At the start of the video (0:00 - 2:30), you will see that I did some "test compounding" with a trash weapon until it is destroyed before proceeding to compound my main weapon. Some players whom I know vouch by this method to increase the later success rates of Advanced Compounding (I am not 100% sure this works so don't take my word for it). As you can see, it is quite a waste of Polish, however if you decide to do it, leave the Polish window open after the trash weapon has been destroyed and move on to the next step. (For the trash weapon, I usually use one that is the same level as the main weapon I am going to Polish. You don't have to use any AntiDes or LAs during test compounding.)

Advanced Compounding

Low Level Polishing (Polish 1 - 5)

From Polish 1>3, you don't have to use any items. Just right-click on the Polish in your bag and a window will pop up. Place the Polish and your equipment in the top and bottom most slots and click "Perform".

From Polish 3>5, Anti Destroying Scroll is recommended if it is an item you really do not want to lose. Right-click on the Anti Destroying Scroll in your bag to open the Polish window and advance compound your equipment.

Mid Level Polishing (Polish 5-7)

Most people will continue using Anti Destroying Scroll from Polish 5>6, but it is quite difficult to get from Polish 6>7 without using LA. Regardless, depending on your budget, you can choose to use just Anti Destroying Scroll or Safety Scroll + LA for Polish 6>7.

High Level Polishing (Polish 7 - 10)

Using LA100 and above is highly recommended for high level polish. In order to use LA without the risk of destroying your equip, you have to use a Safety Scroll as well.

Right-click on the Polish in your bag to open the Advanced Compounding window. (you don't have to do this if you did the "test compounding" method above)

Place your LA and Safety Scroll in the two slots as shown in the video (2:34) and place your equipment in the bottom most slot. Click "Perform", cross your fingers and hope it succeeds. It may take a few tries at higher level of Polish to succeed. But don't worry, with time (and money) you will eventually succeed to get a good polish count :)

Here are a few other videos showing "test compounding" first before polishing the main weapon:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do note that using the Composition Reset Amulet DOES NOT RESET the Polish count of your equip! (Thanks moko for confirming this) It will only reset the ++ from seal compounding.
