Advanced compounding, also known as Polishing, is the concept of upgrading an equipment once again using an item called a Polish (연마제). Polishing can only be done on Weapons / Armors / Avatar Amulets and has a 100% success rate in KGO. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Types of Polish
There are two types of Polish, simply referred to as Red Polish (Normal) and Purple Polish (Advanced). Red Polish (연마제) can be obtained from NPC Dusk Castle Token Manager (중표관리인) in North Dusk Castle (명주성북쪽) by using 90 Token of Strifes (투쟁의증표). Token of Strifes can be obtained from doing Netherworld daily quests. It costs about 300-400m on the marketplace. Purple Polish (강화연마제) can only be obtained from events for now. Purple Polish is extremely rare and expensive ranging from about 8~10b on the marketplace. Dusk Castle Token Manager ![]()
Finishing all Netherworld dailies will give you 8 Token of Strifes if your character is below level 120 and 13 Token of Strifes if your character is level 130 and above. You can do Netherworld dailies on all your alt characters as well.

Polish % Rate and Compounding Limits
The max % and max compounding limits you can obtain for polish depends on the weapon's level:

To get beyond 9 compounding limits, you will have to use Purple Polish. The FIRST polish you use determines the maximum compounding limits your equipment will have for further polishing. You can then choose to continue using Purple Polish or Red Polish for the remaining slots. When Purple Polish is used, the highest % rate of polish will be applied. ※ The max % and max compounding limits obtained is completely random each time you polish your equip, and is entirely up to luck. It may be lower than the % stated in the table above. ※ Polish is not affected by Faction War/10-minute war compounding buffs. ※ Polish count CANNOT BE RESET with Composition Reset Amulet. ※ The additional damage/defence gained from polishing is determined by the % rate applied to your equip after polishing. (e.g. You have a weapon with +200 atk on normal compounding, with a 110% polish rate, your weapon now has additional +220 attack damage) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Polishing Equipment
To polish an equip, right-click on the Red/Purple Polish in your Bag 3 and place your equipment in the compounding slot.

Hence, choose carefully which polish you would like to start with (Red or Purple) as they give different starting composition limits. ![]() You can, however, still reset your weapon's ++ without affecting the polish count. It will look something like this: As I've explained earlier, the ++ of polish obtained from the % compounding rate depends on your weapon's original ++ from Normal Composition (i.e. with seals). Hence in the picture above, Polish ++ is 0 as the weapon's ++ from normal composition is 0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Polishing in KGO is very different from SSO. I hope you have gained a better understanding of the Polish system in KGO and let me know if there is anything I have missed out in this guide, thanks! :)
